Went here last night for the fort's time and couldn't be more happier with my dining experience. They didn't have any reservations online so I went in person to reserve. This wasn't an issue since I was already touring the new hotel. I was surprised to find that at 5pm they did have availability. After 6pm, this place gets jammed up. I requested to sit by the window facing the pool... what a view! My waiter was Cliff and wow was he the best waiter I have ever had! He made the dining experience very memorable with his outstanding customer service and extensive knowledge of the menu. Very impressive! The items he recommended and that we ordered were the crispy Brussels sprouts, green goddess, crispy white fish, chicken amadare, Kuro California and Japanese donuts. Everything was delicious especially the DONUTS! The sauces they provide to dip your donuts in are to die for!  Drinks were delicious too! Ambiance was top notch. It's definitely an upscale restaurant so have your wallet ready! It was worth it especially the care Cliff provided both my husband and I. Next time I am there, I will ask to be seated in Cliff's tables!

I've been here so many times that I've lost count. The first time I went I tried the chef special, basically you pick  a price range you want to stay within and you tell the waitress what you like and what you don't like and the chef makes plates for you and sends them out. It's a good way to get a feel of what's on the menu if you have never been. Every single thing that was brought out I loved! Exceeded alllllll my expectations. The portions are very small but this is how it's intended to be so I suggest if you're a person who doesn't like small plates this wouldn't be the place for you. It's also pretty pricey so keep that in mind but you definitely pay for what you get. That's the only reason I give it 4 stars. I wish the portions were definitely bigger and more filling but I keep going back every time.

The quality of the sushi is literally like no where else. You won't find it anywhere else, it's phenomenal.

Originally scheduled to have Dinner at Council Oak this pat Thursday at the Hard rock Hollywood only to find that the entire hotel, casino, and dining facilities are all under renovation preparing for the grand opening of the expansion tower in October.   With Council oak in a temporary location and nothing else open we decide to try Kuro just off the Lobby bar.   This is not my go to type of food but I'll give it a try as we enter this finely appointed very modern layout overlooking the Pool area.  We have a drink with Angela at the bar who pours a mean libation and the 3 of us are seated nice table near the window.  The acoustics are a bit much as it is very loud in here and our server and I asked 3 times if she could speak up, (Never did) gave us specials etc., but I couldn't hear a thing.   You will find this to be more of a Japanese Tapas restaurant with very small plates and very large prices.  A nice bottle of white burgundy is selected as we move to our appetizer's portions.

We start with (All Portions very Small)

Kuro Nigiri 2 Pieces of King Crab $14.00 Excellent

    Seared Scallop $12.00 Excellent

    Wagu $16.00 Top Shelf

Ribeye Nigima $14.00  Tasty but although cooked they were not at proper serving temperature.

Same for the very tasty Pork Belly $10.00

    Next Up

Chefs Choice of Sushi 12 Pieces $50.00  Really as good as it gets here.

Tenderloin $38.00 which his pre-sliced and served Japanese style also hot food served far to cool.

I understand this is a Sushi place but please the few things that are cooked and to be served hot should be actually hot.  Service was a bit spotty all night she kept disappearing more interested in yapping with servers or a table of people she knew.  Some coffees no desert was consumed at least they were hot.

Food very good to excellent with marks off for the temperature of the cooked dishes.  Atmosphere excellent aside from the entire hotel being under construction.  Service Angela at the bar great our server sorry I missed her name was off the mark.   Solid 4 stars here for a place that really isn't my cup of tea.

Kuro is my absolute go to out of all the restaurants in Hollywood! I've dined countless times as the food is always consistently amazing! Plus, the service is always prompt and on point! My favorite drink is the Pisco Sour although I also enjoy the Hachi & the Ni... depending on my mood. I find myself obsessing over their house smoked trout on a regular basis! I am also in love with the lobster tempura which includes tempura mushrooms. The king crab tempura is also super yummy,,, I just don't care for the buttered powder concoction that tops the dish. And you can never go wrong with the wagyu tacos and the tuna crispy rice. For entrees, my favorite is the tenderloin followed by the chilean sea bass. I don't really care for the miso ribeye or the wagyu donburi but that's just my preference. For desert, my faves are the apple tobanyaki but particularly the sesame panna cotta... Definitely a work of art!!! It's always a good idea to make reservations on Saturday evenings because the restaurant gets packed... especially the bar! "Irasshaimase!"

Okay, okay...here's my update...this place still ROCKS! Tonight I had two Kyu cocktails, which are rum based and made with juices and aromatics that are just beyond! For $14 a pop, they should be! Then I had a spicy tuna roll, king crab and Wagyu beef tacos...then finished with the Japanese donuts...OMG!
